Daughter Nature

Description

Um. Mother Nature's teenage daughter? I guess?

Can't believe I didn't upload this, I usually include it in any "look at my pretty works" area... This is oooold - from 2001. I was working in an art supply store at the time, and this was in an art show that a bunch of the employees took part in. Someone wanted to buy it, but my mom wanted it and refused to let me sell it. It's still in our house somewhere.

... You know, this is one of the oldest things in this gallery, and I'm over it. There's a lot of places where it's not quite right, and given the opportunity, I might just redraw it. And yet, it's the piece of art that gets the most compliments. I don't get that. You people are weird.

Marker for the skin, colored pencil and gel pen for everything else.

The idea for this picture is wonderful. I really like it. But I have some helpful hints for this, not meant with any sorta maliciousness!

1. Your shading is very light, try darkening it up a bit and not just darkening, lighting too. I've found it helps when you start with a basic color and use an eraser to lighten up some places, after which you go back and darken others, creating a 3-D real effect.

2. The body, tough anatomically correct, lack any movement. It's a still life sorts thing. The face shows a lot of emotion but the body doesn't. It's not a good mesh.

That's all I saw ^_^ And I know you probably already know this stuff and are better at it, but I had to put my two cents in!

I would love to see the re-drawing of this picture!!!!!!!!!! :D
